Ten Tips for Applying Fragrance So It Lasts Longer
Fragrances play an important role in our lives. They make us feel good, they enhance our mood and sometimes they transport us into a beautiful world of good old memories. Who doesn’t like to smell good all day? But usually the fragrance wears off after a few hours. The good news is that there are ways to ensure that you smell good for long hours.
1. Take a shower
Make sure to take a nice shower before you start your day. Wear your perfume while your skin is still moist as it will lock the fragrance in.
2. Moisturize your skin well
Pamper your skin with a good quality moisturising lotion which is preferably not too scented. Then, dab yourself with your favorite perfume for it to last long.
3. Know the right points
Always apply the perfume on your pulse points such as the inner side of your wrists, inner side of your elbows or just behind your knees. You will smell good throughout the day.
4. Do not rub the perfume on your skin
Many people have the habit of wearing perfume on their wrists and then rubbing the wrists vigorously. This breaks down the chemicals as the top notes are lost.so the fragrance will wear off faster.
5. Don’t spray on your clothes
There are people who like to spray their clothes with perfume thinking the fragrance will stay. The truth is that fragrance stays longer when it is applied directly on the skin because it mingles easily with one’s body oils.
6. Apply Vaseline before wearing perfume for long lasting results
It is a proven fact that applying a tiny bit of Vaseline on your pulse points before wearing your perfume will make the fragrance last much longer as the moisture will lock the fragrance for longer.
7. Try and combine fragrances
It’s a good idea to use shower gels, shampoo, moisturizers and perfumes of the same brand at a time as the fragrances gel well together and have a longer lasting effect. Otherwise the fragrances can be pretty jarring.
8. Carry miniature perfumes in your bags
Many good perfume brands offer miniatures of their bigger bottles. So keep the smaller ones in your bags for refreshing yourself when you are on the move.
9. Store your perfume carefully
Make sure to store your perfume bottles in a cool dry place lest the fragrance may fly off the bottle. The best place is to keep them in a drawer or a closet which is away from direct sunlight.
10. Brands matter
Rest assured that perfume brands do matter. A high-quality brand will keep you smelling great where as a cheap perfume might react with your body oils and make you stink and may even cause skin allergy. So always invest in a good quality perfume.
